"Killing Them Softly," director Andrew Dominik's tale of a poorly thought-out heist and the mob enforcer (Brad Pitt) who has to clean up the mess, has proven to be a divisive film when it comes to the critics. Some have heralded the rise of a modern classic, while many, many others can't stand the heavy-handed allegory at the heart of the theme.
Whether the parallels to the 2008 financial collapse hold down the latest from Pitt and his "Assassination of Jesse James" director or raise it up is up to you, but this is what the critics are saying about "Killing Them Softly."

Birdman didn't get to the top of rap's food chain by thinking small. The Cash Money co-founder took his little indie label from the comfy confines of his native New Orleans and over time grew one of rap's biggest empires ever. But the #1 Stunna isn't done goal-setting. If the Birdman has his way, he will be releasing 100 albums a year — yeah, you read right.

"Right now, as we stand, we have [48 acts] between Young Money, Cash Money, We the Best," Baby told MTV News during an October interview in Las Vegas. "The goal is to keep developing and keep putting out, so to do that we have to keep buckling down, grindin' hard and stayin' focused. And that's a big challenge, to put a hundred out."

The music mogul recently raised a plaque that commemorated 500 million songs sold worldwide, and with a roster that boasts superstars Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj it's easy to see why the Cash Money brand is one of the most powerful in music. With all that CM has accomplished though, 100 albums in 12 months is still far-fetched. In 2012, the label put out five LPs if you count Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and its rereleased The Re-Up, in addition to DJ Khaled's Kiss the Ring, Tyga's Careless World: Rise of the Last King and Busta Rhymes' free LP Year of the Dragon.

Outside of Cash Money's official roster the label has drawn a number of rap alliances, particularly with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group, with whom they frequently collaborate with. Still, Birdman sees the music business as a very competitive place. "Everybody that's doin' this —

outside of who we done rocked with — is really an enemy to me. So if you ain't on the team, I'm after your head," he said. "If you're doin' what we're doin'. We wanna do the most numbers every year, each year, the most digital numbers. That's what we 'bout, if you doin' this music and you ain't rockin' with us, you're on the menu so that's just what it is."

Per MediaTakeOut.com, Drake was spotted with hanging out with his rumored former girlfriend, Jade this past weekend at the Viper Room in Atlanta. Reported as being his “FIRST REAL” girlfriend, the two were seen exchanging numbers after “reminiscing about old times.” Jade may be familiar to some Drake fans as she apparently was the mystery girl mentioned in a verse off his 2010 Thank Me Later track, “Karaoke” where he raps:

50 CENT COLLABORATES WITH WIZ KHALIFA

50 Cent was admitted to the hospital earlier this week when he began to suffer from severe stomach pains, but by the time he was released Thursday, the G-Unit CEO had already put plans into motion for a new collaboration with Wiz Khalifa.

MTV News caught up with Fif at his G-Unit offices in NYC after his release, and he explained that a tweet from Wiz gave birth to the collaboration. The tweet in question: "I Gotta Song I Wanna Put @50Cent On."

"While I was sitting in the hospital, I saw Wiz Khalifa send a tweet out saying he got something, and he felt like it would be cool if I was actually on a record with him," 50 said. "So I responded to him and I told him, 'Let's work.' I'm feeling good, I was feeling better by the time that tweet went through, so I said, 'Send it,' and I'll speak to him a little later on. 

GAME SAYS GOING INDEPENDENT MAY BE A REALLY REALLY GOOD MOVE

Game only has one LP left on his Interscope contract, and after he drops the follow-up to 2011's The R.E.D. Album, the platinum-selling Compton rapper will contemplate his musical independence.

"Independent. That seems like a really, really good move where I can capitalize off of all the finances being made off of my music for once. But, I don't know, I kinda like having a lot of help, a lot of assistance from a big label," Game told MTV News on Thursday. "I don't know, maybe we'll have a meeting about a lot of money or I'll be talking to my conscience."

Rihanna and Brown also collaborated on a remix of his "Turn Up the Music," which was released on the same day last month.

"The first song that came about was 'Birthday Cake.' ... We ended up recording [the two songs] at the same time and executing them together," she explained on Ryan Seacrest's radio show Thursday morning (March 15). "But I reached out to [Brown] about doing 'Birthday Cake' because that's the only person that, really, it made sense to do the record.

On Monday night, Chris Brown and Rihanna dropped the long-prognosticated remix to Ri's "Birthday Cake," from her Talk That Talk album. The duo also dropped a remix of Brown's Fortune track "Turn Up the Music," all on Rihanna's 24th birthday.




The producers behind the "Cake" track, Da Internz, promised that the remix would "shock," and they didn't lie. Considering that it was just three years ago that Brown assaulted Rihanna over Grammy weekend, the two coming together for the sexy duet marks a new chapter for the singers, one that has been met with varied reactions from fans.

On one side of the argument are fans who appreciate the song regardless of the singers' past. Speedy12 wrote, "First of all Rihanna has to live her life ... people have to get past that 'incident' in '09. You guys are forgetting he has never hit Rihanna b4 that time ... THEY HAD A FIGHT!! Believe it or not, there doesn't seem to be anyone that Justin Bieber isn't getting on his in-the-works next album. It seems that fellow Canadian and Take Care rapper Drake has been tapped to appear on the album, set for release later this year.

The news of their collabo was confirmed on Thursday (February 9) by Bieber's manager Scooter Braun on Twitter. But, any Belieber could have easily figured out whom Bieber was referring to when he tweeted this message to his devotees: "You really wanna know who im going into the studio with tonight??#bigbro #CANADA."

Shortly after dropping her colorful Hype Williams-directed video for single “Stupid Hoe,” off her upcoming Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded LP, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to announced her sophomore album has been pushed back.

“New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED. But have no fear. Tons of suprises before then ;). Love Always, HB,” Nicki tweeted on Friday (January 20).

Additionally, Nicki Minaj tweeted a couple of her upcoming tour dates, including, “London the 19th-25th. Paris 26th, 27th. Berlin on the 28th. Tokyo: March 1st-4th.”

The Harajuku Barbie is scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 12, which would have been two days before her original street date of Feb. 14. Much like the release date of her 2010 debut album, Pink Friday, which was released on Black Friday, Feb. 14 is one of the music industry’s biggest sales days, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Nicki Nick is also scheduled to take part in Madonna’s Super Bowl performance on Feb. 5, along with M.I.A., which she raps about on “Stupid Hoe.” Watch the video below
